THE Memory Station |

It slices. It dices. And it fits in the palm of your hand. No, this is not an infomercial about a new kitchen gadget. This is the exciting release of a state-of-the-art stand-alone digital design-cutter unlike any the paper arts industry has seen. Making Memories’ new patent-pending Slice is a portable digital design-cutter that measures less than five inches square (approx 32 cm2) and weighs less than two pounds (less than 1 kg). Its iPod-simple interface and easy to read graphics window enables users to select from thousands of high-style images and instantly convert them into die-cuts ranging between 1” and 4” tall in ½” increments. The robin’s-egg blue Slice comes with an exclusive design card loaded with numerous upper and lower case alphabet fonts, plus loads of shapes that can be cut into vellum, vinyl, acetate, textured cardstock, and other media of any size. The battery operated device is further packaged with a power adapter, a 6” x 6” glass cutting mat, five cutting blades and a light repositionable adhesive that secures paper to the mat, enabling users to create crisp, clean cuts every time. “Convenience and portability is a huge driver for innovation,” says Making Memories Product Design Manager Gail Pierce-Watne. “We’re proud to offer our customers a new design-cut solution that merges best of digital and traditional scrapbooking in one handheld device. It saves time, it saves money, it saves effort and more than anything, it is irresistibly fun to use!” Users can scroll through font and shape designs with the simple push of a button, previewing each design through a two-inch LCD screen. Once the design is selected, artists can simply place the Slice down on top of paper and the accompanying glass cutting surface, and then just push a button. Within seconds, the completed design has been cut free from the paper, ready to enhance any number of paper projects and scrapbooking layouts. Ideal for scrapbooking, card making, home decor, gifts and school projects.
